Chive Flower Memorial

Charcoal, June 2005
North Shore

I lit a fire out on the rocks on the shore of Lake Superior near my cabin.  I sat for a while and then left it to burn itself out overnight.  In the morning, I came down and found the remnants.  I was inspired and picked up pieces of charcoal.  This was my first charcoal piece.  I brought chive blossoms from my healing garden and nestled them among some exposed tree roots on the rocks as a memorial, then drew it with charcoals from my fire.
