In February 2009, I went to visit my sister in California.  This is a miracle.  Emily and I had never been close.  We really couldn't stand one another until the spring of 2008 when everything changed.  We began to talk daily by phone and she became my dear friend.  Our conversations about dysfunction, co-dependency, family, boundaries, and life catapulted me forward into a whole new way of living.  Our conversations on this trip changed my life.

We went for a walk up in the foothills near her home.  I brought my charcoals and journal and enjoyed the sunshine, landscape, and fragrant plants, engaging deeply in the beauty of her world.
